Much like the breeze of fresh air in a polluted city, the new trailer of ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ gives you the glimpse of the world where woman celebrated their sexuality.
Women sexuality is such a matter that is kept hush-hush under the wrap of ‘Izzat’ or pride. In many cultures, it is taught that any woman who is enjoying her sexuality is no less than a whore. Though we never could understand why whore is a much demeaning term when compared to a rapist. However, that is certainly a matter of another discussion.
Coming back to the trailer, it has already created much controversy around the country due to its bold portrayal of women who are not afraid to discover themselves through the path of sexuality. And, no there is no shame in doing the same.
The film stick-social many talented actors like Konkona Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak Shah, Plabita Borthakur Aahana Kumra, and Vikrant Massey. Initially, it was denied the certificate for a very bizarre reason. The authorities at censor board thought that the film cannot get a certificate as it is too ‘lady oriented.’ Then after a long fight, this movie was awarded ‘A’ Certificate. Besides showcasing a much-needed issue it is also a fine reply to the ‘intellectual’ authorities of Censor Board.
Besides the smashing video, they also came up with a hard-hitting poster. The video is certainly very strong in its projection and makes you think about the one question asked, “Why are you so scared of freedom of women?”
