In India cricket is a game that is religion. Sadly, that status is given only to the cricket team that consists of the male players. Though the woman cricket team is no less and shows promising results, we hardly see it get praised anywhere.
A few days back the India captain Mithali Raj was speaking before their game against England. The team is playing at ICC Women’s World Cup. There she was asked who is her favorite male cricketer.
Instead of answering, she asked this question to the reporter.
“Do you ask the same question to a male cricketer? Do you ask them who their favorite female cricketer is?”

Bang on! Seriously, this is a question that is not only valid but also makes you think that despite having potential the female team lacks all the attention because they belong from a particular sex.
The Indian Captain said that she doesn’t think it is appropriate that they are always compared to their male counterparts instead of giving them the proper recognition that they deserve. That also in a scenario where the sports of Cricket is immensely popular among the masses.

She further added that they have taught a lot by male coaches and it is perfectly fine. Raj made the point that it is not about the sexes but the aspect of recognition for the hard work that matters.
