Anand
Released in the year 1971 and featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna, this movie demonstrated how a dying man desired to live the last moments of his life well and without any fear of death. He leaves a deep impact on his friend’s life and demonstrates him the real meaning of life.
Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar
In this film, Aamir Khan plays the role of a careless boy who doesn’t care for anything and takes his family and friends for granted? This film is a spur for all those who tend to take everything for granted in their lives. The director Mansoor Khan released this movie in the year 1992 and is still remembered for its song, ‘Pehla Nasha’.
Lagaan
This movie shows how a villager, tired of the Britishers commanding heavy taxes in pre-Independent India, takes on a dare to defeat them in Cricket. The villagers with all their bravery and willpower form a team, practise tough and defeat them. This film teaches the meaning of hard work and to not to give up on anything. Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, the movie was released in 2001 and was even voted for the Academy Awards.
Swades
Featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Gayatri Joshi, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, this film influenced the NRIs. A scientist working with NASA returns to India to take care of his nanny in a village and thus finds his roots. He makes up his mind to come back and raise India and make to new heights.
A Wednesday
Featuring great names -Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher, this film was actually one of its kind ever made in Bollywood. It was released in the year 2008 and was directed by Neeraj Pandey. This film narrated how a ‘common man’ ensured that justice was done and the offenders of a fatal terrorist attack were brought to their correct end.
Chak de! India
This was a genuine story based on the life of prior hockey player of India Mir Ranjan Negi. Casting Shah Rukh Khan, this movie popularised the national gameof India, Hockey. It was released in the year 2007 under the Yash Raj Films banner. How Kabir Khan, in spite of all likelihoods, takes the Women’s Hockey Team to the World Championship and made them win it is the heart of the film. This film was a massive blow on the face of those who thought that there was nothing for women in sports.
Queen
Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Queen’ spoke about the freedom for women. When she is abandoned by her husband-to-be a day before her wedding, rather than going under depression, Rani decides to go on her honeymoon unaccompanied. This film underlined numerous significant connections that a woman has in her lifetime- with her parents, female friends and with herself. Directed by Vikas Behl, the great film released in March 2014 and became a super-hit and had th a huge fan following.
Neerja
Grounded on the life of air hostess Neerja Bhanot, who left the world at the age of 21 in a plane hijack, this film featuring Sonam Kapoor in the main lead taught the girls a very significant lesson – to not be afraid of whatsoever and each time do the right thing while encountering danger. Sonam Kapoor did a laudable job and she also won a National Award for this movie. Directed by Ram Madhvani, this film was released in the year 2016.
Manjhi- The Mountain Man
Manjhi was the man who did not stop for 22 years and continued to make a road with only a hammer and chisel from his village to the adjacent town when the Government did not pay any attention to his appeal for the same. Featuring the exceptionally talented Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte, this 2015 movie displayed the tussles of Dashrath Manjhi who built a road after his wife died because of no roads from his village to the adjoining town. This film communicates perseverance and courage.
Rang De Basanti
Featuring varied of actors like Aamir Khan, Kunal Kapoor, R Madhavan, Soha Ali Khan, Waheeda Rehman, this film went on to recreate the importance of youth. Released in the year 2006 and directed by Raykesh Omprakash Mehra, this film provided the youth the authority to be courageous and bold. It gave them the self-assurance to stand up against exploitation and take the stuff in their own hands if the condition commanded. When 4 cheerful college boys are asked to reveal various freedom fighters in a movie, it brings out their nationalism and they are roused on the road to their love for the country.
