There was a time when the psychiatric diseases were considered as someone being mad. However, with the change of time and development of the field of psychology people have started understanding the different diseases. Someone suffering from the same is no longer considered mad and conscious effort is put to cure the same.

There are many known diseases and some of them are extremely common. However, there are also those which are rare and you may or may not have heard about them. Here are few such psychiatric diseases that you won’t believe exists.

Cotard Delusion

Here the sufferer suspects that they have died and doesn’t exist anymore. They consider themselves to be in a very moldy state where they lack any of the internal organs. Moreover, they think that there is no blood left in their body. It also pushes the patient in chronic depression along with delusion.

In this, a person wants to eat or bite a part of their own body. The patient really finds it hard to chew or bite their body and this behavior can only be corrected through proper treatment. It may be caused by the desire to replace mental pain by physical one under immense emotional pressure.

In this delusion a person is fearful of being loved. A word or a gesture coming from a fellow person is enough to trigger it in a patient. They quickly develop depression, disappointments and other problems. It is very difficult to treat and takes a long time.

TrichotilloMania

It is a very painful disorder that causes a patient to pull their hairs repeatedly until they are uprooted completely. The perception is that it is caused by excessive tension that later takes the form of a disorder.

Androphobia

This is found predominately in the women where the patient suffering from Androphobia thinks that they cannot face any situation where men exist. The patient suffers from dry mouth and excessive anxiety besides other things. The reason is mainly due to traumatic physical, emotional, and/or sexual experience in childhood.

In this, a person thinks that they are not human and a cow or bull. They also acts like the same that includes mooing and eating grass. It also causes hallucinations and severe health issues.

Stendhal Syndrome

We all admire the beauty of arts and at times we are overwhelmed by the same. However, someone suffering from Stendhal Syndrome will experience emotional and physical anxiety when they come across a piece of art. In spite of different documented cases the exact reason triggering this disease is still unknown.
